A lesson with an A

Noted author, Lloyd C. Douglas, while a student at Wittenberg College lived in a boarding house near the campus. It was here that he developed a friendship with a retired music teacher who lived on the first floor and was confined to a wheel chair. Douglas said that every morning as he would leave he would stick his head into the music teacher’s room and ask, “What’s the good news today?” Every morning the music teacher would pick up a tuning fork, tap it on the side of his wheelchair and say, “that’s an A note. It was an A yesterday, and it will be an A tomorrow; it will be an A a thousand years from now. The tenor upstairs is flat, the piano across the hall is out tune, but, THAT is an A!”

There are so many things that are temporary and changing in this life. But there is one thing you can count on—one thing that remains the same and will never change. It is this: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

We have all known people who have let us down. They once appeared to be faithful and then showed themselves to be unfaithful. They made promises and then broke them. They seemed to be truthful and then proved to be untruthful. We’ve all known what it’s like to be disappointed by those we once trusted. We’ve all been burned…

But here’s something valuable I’ve learned: Jesus will never let you down! He is good, faithful and true. Whatever He has promised, that He will do! So trust Him today and always! Life’s experience with others can leave you jaded, but Jesus can ever be trusted! So get your eyes on Jesus—and you will never be disappointed!

Devotedly yours,

Pastor Ron
