In God We Trust

In the book Jesus CEO, Laurie Beth Jones includes this poem:

There is a net under us all.

Sometimes we dance

And sometimes we fall.

And there is a net

Under us all.

She was referring to the Maker of heaven and earth who watches over you and me. It is He who neither slumbers nor sleeps. (Psalm 121:1-4). If we have opened our hearts to a relationship and companionship with Him then we are never truly alone. So if you ever experience the bitter taste of loneliness, then open your heart and draw closer to God. He will never leave you nor forsake you, Further, He will put a Family of Faith around you—but you must be willing to trust Him first.

I read about some city workers in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. They were trimming the limbs of trees when they discovered a nest of robins on one of the limbs. They decided to trim around that limb. Later, after the robins were able to fly away, the city crew came back and took down the limb where the robins had nested. When they looked into the nest, they found a ragged, wadded up piece of paper with some barely legible words scrawled on the paper. Someone had written on that paper which the industrious robins picked up and stuffed into their nest. It read, “We trust in the Lord our God.”

That is something to think about when we are lonely, troubled and afraid. We trust in the Lord our God. He who cared for the robins can certainly care for you and me!

Devotedly yours,

Pastor Ron
