The Day All Heaven Broke Loose

Early on that first Easter Sunday morning, the women (Mary and the others) came to the tomb with spices to complete the preparation of Jesus’ body for burial. Upon their arrival at the tomb, they discovered the stone was rolled away. They entered and found the body was not there and the tomb was empty. While they wondered over what might have happened, two angels stood beside them and said, “He is not here, He has risen!” (Luke 24:6).

So the women came to the tomb expecting to find something, but they found nothing. Never before in the history of the world has nothing meant more…Truly, that nothing meant everything!

The resurrection of Jesus may have come as a surprise to the early disciples, but Jesus had spoken of these things long before they would come. Jesus said, “Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live” (John 14:19).

Jesus fulfilled His promise and came forth from the grave! The resurrection changed everything for the early disciples. They would no longer view life and death the same way. The same is true for you and me! The empty tomb assures us that Jesus has opened the door of heaven. He has given us a joyful outlook and a confidence about the future!

A cartoon in a Christian magazine showed the scene of Jesus’ tomb with the stone still over the opening. Two demons were posted there to guard the tomb. One of the demons said to the other, “I sure hope Jesus doesn’t come out of that tomb, because if He does, Hell help us, all Heaven will break loose!” That’s what happened! All heaven has broken loose!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this Sunday, April 4, as we celebrate our Risen Lord and the victory that is ours in Christ Jesus! May all heaven break loose in our worship and praise to our Lord!!!

Devotedly yours,

Pastor Ron
