Taking God At His Word

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Several years ago a friend of mine, who is a capable pilot, explained to me the instrument panel in the cockpit of his private plane. He showed me the compass which indicates direction, the altimeter that measures the height of an aircraft above the ground, the altitude indicator which is a display showing you an artificial image of the horizon and how the plane is positioned relative to the horizon. I asked my friend what if your visibility is limited and you cannot see? He said, “You trust your instruments…”

The time will come in life when you will want to trust your feelings. Do not do it! Trust the instrument God has given to you: the word of God. Your life & well-being depends on it. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Instead, trust God’s word. “God’s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path” (Psalm 119:105).

This coming Sunday I will conclude the series TRUTHS WE TREASURE TOGETHER. Each week I have encouraged us to continue to embrace the truth of scripture even when it runs contrary to our culture. We can trust God’s word! We can believe it and lean into it! Trust your life to the word of God. Here is why—“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the (person) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

I have never lived one day of my life with any inkling of regret for having trusted in God’s word! I plan to continue in believing God and taking Him at His word! How about you?

Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
